Do not run from out of state citations, they will find you and suspend your license in your home state. Failing to appear for a traffic citation will result in a suspension of your North Carolina “Customer Number.” Once this happens the NCDMV will post your suspension on the National Driver Register (Insert hot link) https://www.nhtsa.gov/research-data/national-driver-register-ndr. All states check the National Driver Register when renewing a driver’s license. It may take some time to catch up, but it will find you. Failing to appear for some offenses like DWI will result in an order for arrest.
All states except Georgia, Massacheusets, Michigan, Tennessee and Wisconsin are part of Driver’s License Compact. National Center for Interstate Compacts Database (csg.org). A state that is part of the compact must report certain convictions to the licensing state and the member state shall give the same effect to the report as if the offense had occurred in the home state.
